Melbourne Spoken Word invites you to a special MSWPF workshop as part of our series of MSWPF workshops at Siteworks. Poet Henry Briffa hosts a workshop on confessional poetry.

Poetry, like therapy, offers the words to say it; ways to create more hopeful narratives about our lives and the difficulties we have faced or are still facing. These stories contribute to self-worth, meaning and identity. We will:

  • consider work by poets who have written about personal difficulties

  • think about what works in these poems

  • we might write from our own woundedness or from our strength and power

  • consider the importance of supporting other writers and our inner poet

(Please bring 2 objects (or photos) representing strength & vulnerability)

General Admission: $30

Golden Ticket: $100 (includes Opening Night, Closing Night Party, and two workshops)
